Volunteer Summary Job Descriptions
contact: Nancy Wuerzburger
Front Gate Greet the general public at the main gate near the park entrance. Direct cars to the gate area and parking areas to avoid a traffic jam. Separate the performers from the public for unloading purposes. Collect money from incoming patrons and bring to cashier, and return with tickets and festival programs, and wrist bands.
VIP Table Check-In Check in the performers, their guests, and official Festival staff. Make sure the performers get their information packets and programs, and direct them to performer unloading areas near the proper stage. Make sure each person checked-in is given a proper wrist band.
BFC Table Be helpful. Promote the BFC. Smile. Conduct T-shirt and other festival souvenir sales. Assist patrons with raffle tickets. Promote our raffle prizes. Help injured persons in obtaining first aid from our on duty paramedic.
CD Sales Help sell artists CDs and tapes. This position involves collecting money, and keeping records of CD titles sold. Operate cash register and credit card machine. Rotate inventory to promote on-stage performers. Help performers check in and out.
Festival Set-up and Break-Down Help to set up tents, stages, dance floors, hospitality area, and pre-position supplies prior to the start of the Festival on Friday. And do the reverse after the Festival is over. These positions require work to be performed during the week, and on the MLK Holiday Monday.
Security Security volunteers are responsible for checking wrist bands to ensure that only properly authorized persons enter the Hospitality area, and any area where cash is exchanged. They will help move cash drawers when necessary, from the Festival Treasurer to the CD Sales and Front Gate areas.
Hospitality An extremely important, multi-tasking position. Hospitality volunteers interact with performers and their guests, and thus can become the "face" of the festival to our VIPs. These positions can do anything from helping set up meals and snacks, serving food to the VIPs, washing pots and pans, to potentially peeling potatoes. We never know. In the Army, its called KP, but its much more rewarding at our Festival! Hospitality volunteers often interact with performers just prior to, and just after their performances. A good attitude and a big smile is ESSENTIAL!
Stage Hands Help the Stage Managers and performers set up the stage for their performances. This position will be called upon to move chairs, speakers, microphones, cords, and instruments. Help the performers "plug-in", when necessary.
